Very enjoyable Chardonnay almost Chablis like. Precise fruit and crisp acidity. Has a flinty mineral character and lots of citrus and stone fruit. For around $40 this is really high quality.

CWG Auction Event Tasting (Ernie Els Wines): Rich peach fruit aromas, with toasty, oaky notes dominating. The palate has that more direct vibrant acidity of CY76 with verve, real penetration that give a steeliness to the frame. The core of flavour is nectarine and Valencia oranges interwoven with spicy oak and toast; there is a lighter lifted layer of Asian pear, lime flowers and minerality that give poise and focus to the wine. Long finish with some power and a gentle phenolic grip of lemon zest and has good length, especially given the year. Fab!

Late night at home. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Explored over next few nights also. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of light chrysanthemum, citrus lemon, stony minerality getting a bit more rocky with air. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of citrus lemon + lime, green melon, white peach, light chrysanthemum, background stony minerality, integrated light touch of oak. Medium+ finish. Good quality. Well-balanced, well judged and quite safe middle of the road Chardonnay. Indeed a feeling of ataraxia serene calm. Easy drink. Hard to place in a blind.

Strange hint of broccoli in the nose. Good structure, as usual.

Good but not as good as the 2015. Has the classic satsuma-finish that I expect from Ataraxia.
