  • Better than the last bottle. Surprisingly still a lot of primary fruit.

  • Some VA which I don't necessarily dislike in old grenache. Still some primary characteristics. Maybe not a really enjoyable wine to drink but certainly interesting and well worth the $10 I paid.

  • Did not have high hopes for this - based on others reviews, thought I had missed the window on an average wine. I decided to bresk it open while watching a football game with a small party and the usual football fare (wings, meatballs, chili, etc). While it did not have a very strong finish it was very drinkable and an enjoyable match with the food.
Fruity and pleasant smell, it stood up to the sweetness in the apricot wings. Some tasted a licorice note but certainly none of the negative tones described elsewhere.

  • No score.. This bottle was horrible.. Possible flawed bottle or could it really be outside the drinking window as per some of the other notes on this page?? A 2005 Red from France, past it's drinking window?? Smelled like barnyard when I put it in the decanter.. Then once in the glass, it had a slight aroma of urine and rotten fruit.. It didn't taste as bad as it smelled, but if this is what it is supposed to be, I will pass on this label for sure in the future.. This is the 2nd Cotes du Rhone we have had that smelled like the monkey cage at the local zoo. The Rhone style blends from Paso, CA have been much better and drinkable, and actually taste good.. If this is what French wine is about, I'll stick w/CA, ITA, and SPA..
