A beautifully made wine from a ripe vintage and 14% alc/vol, but not showing any overt signs of being overripe. I opened and decanted this wine an hour and a half before serving and I'm glad I did, as it opened up more and more with time. The aroma is superb, real raspberry like sangiovese varietal character, well integrated oak and superb mid palate mouthfeel. It has medium weight and a silky texture yet the tannin and acid levels are still noticeable, delivering a quite savoury red at the moment, somewhere between primary and secondary development. My impression was that it could use more time, at least 5 and probably up to 10 years, to attain the sublime developed aromatics that mature Chianti CC can deliver. After that, how long is a piece of string. Happily I have one bottle left and will leave it alone for quite a while.

Beautiful silky and soft tannins, but the elevated acidity is very present. Notes of plum and cherry. Can age for at least four more years, maybe even longer.

A modern Chianti with some Merlot added. Soft and approachable, nice cherry fruit, some milk chocolate, fine acidity, hint of iron, elegant tannins, not super long but very balanced and tasty. Perfect for drinking now, but will hold. Lovely vintage. - 90 points
