  • Tough going without food. A little too bold and extracted for my taste, needs a good steak or ribs to soften it.

  • Pepper, blackberry , black cherry, oak. Full body, medium acidity. Really enjoyed this one and a good pairing with the right food. Definitely decant it for an hour at least.

  • Really excellent stuff, complex and elegant. Didn't *quite* have the incredible depth and precision of their 2014 John Lewis (not a totally fair comparison) but it was still captivating for the price- we paid $65 for this. It seems to sell for closer to $50 in some places, and for that price it's closer to a 94 on my scale.

Immediately expressive nose with a vivid note of cinnamon at first, not like the soft "baking spices" oak note but something with real spice to it. Following this was a perfume of fresh blueberry and blackberry, then a tiny little dash of funk, that dank walla walla thing, subtle and controlled. That cinnamon note was really cool but at times it overpowered the rest of the components- other times it was more integrated.

Really elegant on the palate, showing that silky, lighter style beautifully without compromising flavor. Plenty of high-toned blueberry here too and various peppery spices. Acidity is great, not a dynamo, but there's a pop of energy for sure. By day two some of the general verve of the wine had faded- I don't know if this is one for long aging, but it could go a little longer.

  • Pepper, rubber, tar, blackberry, black currant, violet, moss. Good balance of fruit and terroir. Bright on the front palate but lacks follow through on mid palate and finish. Near peak now but will hold for several years. Drink or hold.
