Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): #19-19, 9% abv. Monumentally-scaled riesling, especially for Spätlese. Lacking a bit of finesse here, this pours almost viscously. It is generously sweet and missing the requisite acidity. These days, maybe that's really what the Rheingau is like (I admit I don't have much experience with contemporary Rheingau wines). Don't get me wrong though, this is amply delicious. But it's not the old-school type of Spätlese which was very easy to drink large quantities of.
Racy and nervy riesling with pronounces minerality on the nose, followed by lime oil and stone fruits Pale lemon colour On the palate it’s light bodied, medium sweet, with cutting acidity Outstanding length

Tasted after Rheingau Riesling Tradition. 75gr of residual sugar. Generous on the nose with notes of honeyed, tropical fruit, floral notes, minerality. Extremely well balanced on the palate. Sweet, juicy fruit, bright acidity, great minerality and an intense finish with impressive length. An absolutely gorgeous Spätlese! 93-94+
