  • Young, lots of menthol, spearmint, French oak influence, mouthfeel comes across as overly polished and missing the extract and texture a better Shiraz would have. Surely it will be marginally better in 4-5 years; it’s not giving everything at the moment.

  • The colour is clear deep purple. The intensity is medium (+). The aromas are black plum, blueberry, blackberry, liquorice, lavender, cedar, vanilla, chard wood, nutmeg, forest floor, mushroom and meat. The wine is developing. The wine is dry. The acidity is medium, the tannins are medium, the body is full. The flavour intensity is medium (+), the finish is long. The flavour are black plum, blueberry, blackberry, lavender, cedar, vanilla, chard wood, nutmeg, and forest floor and meat. The wine is very good. Drink now, but has potential for further aging.

I’m not sure how this will age, the aromas & palate is dominanted by the oak at this stage. Drink another bottle in a year or two.

  • By the glass. On the nose fruit takes the lead. Aromas of plums, figs, black berries and then impenetrable cedar. Palate showed more monolithic saved for a silky texture and a decent length. Excepting for that complex nose, another concentrated wine from Barrosa.

  • Many years yet to go. Still plenty of acid and fruit to take it along another 5-10 years.

  • Appearance: dark black/purple core with purple hues. Quite thick in texture, full-bodied with ample legs
Nose: this is quite fragrant, dark fruits: plums, cassis and black cherries come to mind. Some subtle forest floor and black pepper notes also coming through
Palate: intense dark fruits flood the palate: cassis, plums, some cedar oak , black pepper and spices ensue. Tannins are very plush and velvety. Finish is long and persistent . This is one very well made and balanced wine. Quite jammy and bold, recommend with red meats
