Interesting reading all the notes followed this wine for six hours maybe more so tight for the first four but when it opened it is open needs a big decant if you like this style its a pretty impressive wine give it a few more years this is not a PNP or even close be patient Sam Kaplan knows what he is doing
Three hour decant. Very deep dark purple color. Black cherry, plum, dark raspberry, yellow cake, toasted rye, baker’s chocolate, and subtle caramel. Smooth, dry palate. Full, satiny tannins on the medium long+ finish.
This has some nice complexity, but is very youthful and primary at the same time (hard to articulate). It’s not as good as I expected, but should improve with another year or two in the cellar. Drank well despite everything I just noted, but it’s no value.
Last 2 days of 2022 Naples-palooza; 12/30/2022-12/31/2022 (Casa Mark1npt): Brought by HMC and my first Amoenus. This is a very nice wine but still distinctively '2018.' It is approachable and drinkable now, but you can tell that it will only become more integrated and better with cellar time. Sweet plummy fruit and nice acidity. Lots of upside to my score but not there yet. I think we pnp'd so may not have done it justice on the decant but it was drinking nicely without
Not sure of the exact decant time here. You can ask HowellMountainCru who brought this one to the evening's festivities. Suffice it to say, it was red fruited and smoooooth.........glad I have some of this one in the cellar. Quality, quality, quality.......thanks, Jimbo!

Return to Napa; 3/6/2022-3/13/2022 (Wineries and various restaurants): Black fruits, a bit more tight in style and while it was opening a bit in the glass I don't think we really saw what the wine is (it had been poured maybe 45 minutes before we got there so if you are drinking now needs a fairly long decant).
