Still very young and tight on the nose with a firm structure, this bottle took about two hours in the decanter to reveal itself. I was initially concerned that the profile of the wine was going to be too sharply chiselled and taut for my taste but it softened beautifully and the texture was like velvet by the time we finished the bottle. The fruit is definitely less sweet than my favourite Brunellos and it lacks the warm spice tones that I consider signature - however it expresses characters of wild berries, bonfire, mineral, and fresh herb which makes this a very interesting wine and one to get excited about. I look forward to revisiting over future years. This was first vintage that Ragnaie produced a wine from 100% Montosoli fruit - this bottle encouraged me to study more about the Montosoli hill and I think any wine that inspires you to delve deeper is a great one.

The tannins are not fully resolved but more significantly there are no tertiary flavours displayed. Not very surprising for a 2015 but no suggestion at this point of greatness.

Drinking great from the start. Brown/amber coloration but obviously very much alive. Earthy and herbaceous but enough ripe cherry to please. Great balance and structure. Good now but better in five, ten plus.

This is a fine bottle of wine showing the lovely transparency of Montosoli with the intensity of great year Brunello. The colour is dark cherry red and the nose lifted with tones of dark cherry, wild strawberry, autumn herbs, balsamic vinegar and touches of vineyard flowers. The palate has a lovely transparency with both lightness and intensity that lingers with its fine savoury grip. Delicious already but potentially great longevity.
