Notes from last night. Bold aromas of lavender, black cherries, blackberries and leather. Notes of crushed rocks and earth. On the palate, a ton of black fruit including plums, some graphite and a bit of dark chocolate. Decanted for 2 hours. Wonderful wine.
Opened on day 1 and gave it a nice long decant but it just couldn’t get to a good place. Dark fruit, almost bitter tannins, not what I was hoping for. (And no I didn’t miss the ideal window, I tasted along the way and it didn’t evolve at all). Suffered through a glass and then rebottled the rest in smaller glass bottles and forgot about it in the fridge for a few days. Day 3 was a different wine. Immediately on the nose chalky and dusty and full of fruit. Much more integrated and the bitterness was gone. I wish I hadn’t wasted the first few glasses on day 1. This needs much more cellar time (I would say or a long decant but I know most people won’t be willing to wait for 3 days!!)
Decanted for 2 hours. Bold aromas of blackberry and black cherry with notes of graphite and coffee bean. Hits the palate with tasty black fruit (black cherry and currant), graphite, and dark chocolate. Grippy tannins and a 20-second finish. Great minerality! I think this wine will age wonderfully!

This has gotten a bit better over time- strong tannins that should age well over the next few years. Nice deep purple color, cedar notes on the palate. Good mix of blue and red fruit. Needs more of a decant but I couldn’t wait!! This is still a strong wine that should last a while.
A bit gritty at the pnp with grainy tannins and slightly tart red fruit. An hour in, cassis shows up. Roses on the nose, rich dark red fruit shows up. Good acidic backbone. This is a very nice drinker between hours 1 and 3 at this point in its evolution. By hour 4, it's a little more astringent but not overbearingly so. More barrel spice shows up and carries through to the finish. Very different than how this was drinking initially upon release. Still plenty of time for this one to end up in a perfectly integrated window. I'll hold my last one for another year.
