  • Cinnamon and brioche and toast on the nose. And clean and quick on the palate. INteresting and really quite fun, but also dry and stiff.

  • 10% Meunier, 10% Pinot Gris, 10% Pinot Blanc,
    10% Pinot Noir, 20% Arbanne, 20% Petit Meslier,
    20% Chardonnay
    from Jouy-lès-Reims 1er Cru, Villedommange 1er Cru,
    Pargny-lès-Reims 1er Cru, Coulommes-la-Montagne 1er Cru
    in the western part of Montagne de Reims with fossil-bearing
    limestone soil and vines under organic practices.
    Pressing by traditional Coquard basket presses.
    Vinification and aging in stainless steal, with small part
    of chardonnay in used barrique.
    Full malolactic due to high acidity.
    Aged on lees for 48 months.
    Dosage: 6 g/l – Brut
    disgorged: 02/2021
    12.5% Abv.

    Background: Wine growing in the family dates back to 1790.
    Brothers Philippe and Pierre Aubry with brother-in-law Noël Poret
    are joined by Phiippe's son Max in 2020. They continue to revive
    the "forgotten varietals", particularly Petit Meslier.

    A(ccuray)=2: Bright lemon/yellow. Fine mousse, bit muted fragrance.
    B(alance)=3: Mature fruit base with vibrant acid structure.
    C(omplexity)=2: Apple, prune, brioche, spices.
    D(epth)=1: Savory mouthfeel. Good length and finish.

  • Fascinating and delicious at the same time. Its been a long time since having had this but makes me think back that this is probably their best bottle of Champagne.
