  Age is shaping this one. It has a nose of truffle oil, sauted mushrooms with underlayers of lychee and lemon zest. On the palate, poached pear and damp earth on the attack. The mid-palate is reductive, almost antique. Then a crisp citric acid sets up a long, mineral finish. Great balance and structure. Elegant. But weird. Like modern dance. And buying two of these is sort of like buying a season at the theater. Sure, it's great and legitimate business expense, but you still wonder why you did it...

  Intriguing scents of tarnished silver, English peas, melon with subtle yeast underneath. Then dry stones on the attack, Meyer lemon and bright orange-y acids in the ruck and a puckering, persistent finish with a weird Porcini visitor near the end. Well-integrated funkiness. And not funk for funk's sake. Drinks like an elegant champagne. An old friend with a new hair cut -- you don't notice the change, but something funny nags at you.
