Renwood, Estate Zinfandel. 2019 from Amador county. I like zins from Amador county, and this one fits the profile. Lots of heavy black fruit with a little black pepper in the middle. Decent acid on the back, but it really leads with the over ripe fruit. It’s not raisiny, which some zinfandels can be. There is enough tannin to pull it together. Don’t get too excited, it’s solid, but not great. What do you expect for $10

Bold wine with rough edges. Fig jam, over ripe plum, with a little vanilla. The finish is a little medicinal and slightly hot. Used a Venturi aerator to pour, and this may have benefited from being decanted. A little age may improve it, however, the last time we had this wine it seemed better than this bottle. Served with smoked baby back ribs. Always enjoyed Renwood, and like keeping some in the cellar.

Medium body, mild aromas of earth and dark red fruit, flavors of dark berries and baked raisins; overoaked, short finish with mild acids and tannins.

Nose of wood, black cherry, plum, and black berry, same on the palate, medium body, good acid, simple, medium finish showing mid tannins-pass.
