  • To be clear with these confusing Laurent bottlings, it is also labeled as "Intra-muro". Ruby without any fading. Fantastic, complete Burgundy aromatics, which is to say some game, a panoply of fruit, and clove spice. Medium weight, really sappy, smoky fruit across the full spectrum of red berry, plum, and blackberry backed up by strong but not raspy acidity. Tremendous, and honestly as good or better than any of the high end aged Burgundy we've had recently. I've got to hand it to this wine--it has gotten better and better with each succeeding bottle and is at an extraordinarily wonderful point now.

  • Dinner Robuchon Macau. Paired with Girolles dumplings. From magnum, not decanted and poured. Saved half for next day's lunch with friends in another restaurant in the same hotel with cork put back it.
    Great nose of forrest floor and redcurrants with some well-integrated vanilla oak. Lovely raspberry and some prunes in the mouth. Sweet finnish.
    Darnk the rest the next day with Australian wagyu porterhouse steak. Same except more complex with slightly stewed cherries. A wine to sink in.

  • Even red throughout. A whiff of funk, wood char, and rising cherry aromas. This cleaned up and became more spicy and candied over time. Medium weight, again gained texture and breadth with air. The fruit started off as tart cherry but became sweeter and lost its edge, and some wet soil filled in. Unobtrusive tannins. All in all, wonderful evolution in the glass, much better than a couple of years ago, and now flirting with Grand Cru level-all that one could have asked for was a touch more intensity and depth.

  • Light ruby. This finished a lot better than it started with stunted aromatics, and the palate thin and raspy with nothing but acidity to taste. The air did some good with plum and cherry fruit beginning to show, some spice, mild soil tones, and much more texture. That said, it never really ascended to true Grand Cru quality, and the acidity was relentless, giving tartness at the end that was more like 1996 than 2002 in its stridency. Happily, one thing this is not is too oaky. Underwhelming.
