  • One hour decant. Deep dark electric magenta color. Caramel, mocha, dark fruit, anise, and subtle bay leaf. Dry, satiny, dusty palate, with nice, pixelated acidity. Very firm, but lower intensity, tannins on the long finish.

The fruit is from the rows right next to VHR. This is really expressive, but the fruit is in the background. Needs time to resolve. Mark Carter was doing the pouring for #1WineLover and I.

  • Thinking about buying more to lay down in light of the 97+ rating from Dunnuck and the fact that it’s hard to find a Bevan Beckstoffer cab for under $200 but wanted to get an idea where it’s at first. I was planning to drink it over a couple days to see it how it developed but it was too good on day one. Purple fruit - currants, blackberry, dark raspberry, and some blueberry. Really smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and really nice depth/concentration. Nice rich/vibrant flavors of cassis, some spice, and a little graphite component. Fairly long finish. Decanted for four hours and drank over a couple more. Not much improvement with time but surprisingly drinking quite well after the decant despite its youth. No surprise of the 97+ rating from Dunnuck - probably the best Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper cab that I’ve had. 100% cab.

  • This wine starts off showing a deep purple blue color with nice aromas. On the palate, dark purple blue fruits (black and blueberry) some dark currants and black cherry fruit. There's nice flavors and energy with this vintage, its full-bodied and showing well. I would agree with JD on his assessment of this wine, he gives it a scores of 97 points. I say, 96/ 96+ Points now with the possibility of gaining a point or more with some cellar time.
