A good wine, but a bit underwhelming overall. Beautiful aromas and dark berry fruits and extraction, but the energy that typifies this brand was missing. Day one, the wine showed restrained, it never really opened up 90+ points. Day two, was the best, it had opened up a bit, but not to the degree that I would have anticipated, 92+ points, day three the wine regressed. I would recommend a very long decant for this bottling. It could just be one of those stubborn vintages that requires long cellaring.
Many of the 2019's are in a bit awkward stage in my opinion and I think this bottle typified that current trend. This was a good bottle of wine, but I found it to be somewhat restrained. Rich color, a purple dark reddish with a pleasing nose. Palate: Dark berry and cherry fruits, boysenberry, currants, tobacco and some acidity. Composed of 95.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 1.9% Merlot and 0.4% Petit Verdot. This wine was consumed over a period of about 3 days and all were Coravin pours. The first was given very little air and although I could detect some potential underlying elements in the wine, the substance that I hoped for never showed. Despite giving it some air, on days 2 and 3, the results were pretty much the same. I enjoy Cabs from Sonoma/ Alexander Valley but for now, I believe cellaring will help this vintage, better days lie ahead. 90+/91? Points.

4/4/2017 5:33:00 PM - Yack Man, keep your eyes out for the 2014 Apriori Reserve cab. A local store recommended this cab and really impressive for $75. Apparently small production but in my opinion worth seeking-out a bottle to try.
1/4/2016 10:30:00 PM - Outpost Wines, I will keep that in mind. Thanks Bluegoose. I must say the 2013 portfolio of Mike's wines are wonderful. I can't believe how much I have enjoyed the Myriad Napa Valley Cabernet and the Scarlett Cabernet. Fortunately I have been able to put away some of the Scarlett and a few of the Myriad Cabs.
5/11/2015 5:07:00 PM - Hey Yack Man, you seem to have very similar taste in wine as me and was wondering if you would mind giving me a few suggestions for some California reds that are similar to the 2010 Hewitt. I love big, chewy, plummy fruit bombs, they can't be too dense for me honestly. Up to around $100/bottle is OK. Please email me at marty@modernbathroom.com if you have any ideas. I really appreciate it. This isn't some kind of solicitation or whatever, I just can't figure out how to Private Message you (I'm new to this site).

Pretty much in line with my last bottle, a good wine but not showing as well as previous experiences. Good, but not special. 92+ Points.
