April BYO (Bodø, Norway): For the first time in my life, I end up at 100 points. The wine is dark straw yellow and has a very complex and appealing nose with a marked floral expression. Furthermore, there are notes of honey, dried meat, freshly cut grass, and eventually salted caramel. The wine feels complex and develops as long as I have it in the glass. At first contact in the mouth, the wine is very concentrated. Malt extract, green apple, and the delicious little bubbles give me an association with soda powder. On top of this, the wine has perfect balance and a lasting finish.

Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): 06.05.23. Drinks, surprise surprise, like a young Initial, but with less of the oxidative tones and more white and yellow fruit. Very fresh and bright with plenty of palate weight here. Would be great to say that this was Selosse without the price tag, but that's not really what's happening here, is it.

Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): There's a little sticker that says 18.04.21 on the label and that's all the info I have on this bottling. Tastes great though -- surprise surprise it reminds me quite a bit of Selosse Initial. Very rich and dense, with clear oak influence and weight. A bit of sweetness to counterweight the acidity and oak elements. Outstanding and impressive, but at the current price...?

Four years since my last bottle, but this was nonetheless drinking younger and fresher. Crisp, focused and complex. Delicious.

Disgorged 26.3.2022 - will leave subsequent bottles in cellar for a few years. Strong fruit for the “Selosse” style. A bit lighter touch as well?
