Community Tasting Notes (4) Median Score: 90 points

  • Oakey interpretation of a dry California zin. Blueberry and boysenberry nose give way to a body mroe of the same, oaked nose to palate, hints of earth. The same extends to the finish which is short on fruit but long on astringic oak with toffee undertones. Ironically the younger rendition of this zin has better mouthfeel and finish.

  • Medium glistening ruby; aroma profile of dark raspberry, dark clove, eucalyptus, menthol. The palate is full, big and sumptuous with dark fruit - sweet at first, resiny tannins - kind of sweet but savory, earthy black pepper spice and mineral. Got a lot going and it really rocks hard.

  • Nose of rich dark fruit. Rich dark fruit carried through on taste and tannis were moderate. Very well rounded! Very enjoyable wine and just wish I had purchased a couple more bottles.

  • A 90 point for <$15? I opened one as a second bottle, drank half and put the plunger back in and left it on the shelf in a 75˚ kitchen for two days. I went back for it as another second and WOW! Not only did it hold up, but it seemed a little better. I hope wines like this one will help to keep the industry n check. Oh yeah, I'm buying a coupe cases.
