Translucent plum red, with distinct browning and orange tinges. Nose is distinctly porty (one of my guests asked if it was in fact port), on the palate it benefits from both air and food, and then shows mature plum and dried flower notes that temper the rather heady sweet dried fruit of the nose. The acid is fresh (rather cutting on its own) and the tannins resolved. Showing well as a mature Barolo, I'm not sure it will improve from here.

Not massively different to my previous note, though this shouldn't go through quite as long a decant. Akin to other 04s, it's advancing quite quickly, while losing none of its fragrant charm. If anything the mineral intensity on this bottle was more prominent and the fruit a tad more austere. Structure holding together nicely. Good, but definitely one to drink soon.

This is a good example of a wine with old world character. It definitely needs to be decanted for 3-4 hours to enjoy all it has to offer. The fruit on the tongue has definitely been sun kissed, leaning towards dried fruit with more caramelized flavors. Definitely drink it with food for the best results.

Nice Barolo. Brick red color. Needs air and time. Lots of cherries, red fruit, spice. Tannins, acid, balance. Quite powerfull. Medium to long finish.
