I have somehow kept 6 bottles of this without a taste for close to 10 years. I find this simple and four-square with its big, round sweet-cherry and tobacco flavors, but it has no major flaws, nor has time noticeably marred it. It's reasonably well balanced, and without any alcoholic burn. I'd say this is a perfect barbecue wine if you don't want to break the bank but still wish to please. It's certainly not the driest wine around though.

Brought to a "South of the equator" blind tasting, expecting little compared to others amongst the 24+ wines offered. Decanted for hours, re-bottled for tasting. VERY fruity, soft tannins, other participants were impressed, especially w/the $10 price.

(Altitude 1050 Malbec) #3; COLOR-dark; NOSE-pretty tight; getting a little hint of red fruit (cherry) and a little bark action; PALATE-luscious red fruit; nice tannins on the mid-palate; the sour cherry is really the essence of this wine; I like the backbone structure; good light fruit on the back-end; not too heavy or light; great barbeque dinner wine; a nice round and lush back-end; not inexpensive at $20 bones for a Malbec, but this has the "oomph" power on the back-end; I like this wine; I like the sour action and hint of tobacco on the back-end; a hair overpriced, but this is young and has room to grow; GV-90/91; GV-89/91

PnP. Nose of cherrry, red raspberry and vanilla. Palate of cherry, red & black berries, baking spice and a touch of oak with a medium finish.

Great balance. Not overly exciting but it gets points for not having any over the top fruit.
