I have somehow kept 6 bottles of this without a taste for close to 10 years. I find this simple and four-square with its big, round sweet-cherry and tobacco flavors, but it has no major flaws, nor has time noticeably marred it. It's reasonably well balanced, and without any alcoholic burn. I'd say this is a perfect barbecue wine if you don't want to break the bank but still wish to please. It's certainly not the driest wine around though.

Brought to a "South of the equator" blind tasting, expecting little compared to others amongst the 24+ wines offered. Decanted for hours, re-bottled for tasting. VERY fruity, soft tannins, other participants were impressed, especially w/the $10 price.

Malbec Tasting: After being open for only an hour or so, this was my favourite Malbec of 8 tasted blind (though still only questionably crossing the 90-point threshold). It came across very fruity with beautiful fresh raspberries and cranberries, though lighter bodied and without much tannic structure. There was a particular pleasure to be had in drinking it that I really didn't get from the others. However, by the next night it had lost all of its freshness and a lot of its fruit and without that it was boring and no longer enjoyable.

3 hour decant. Medium purple in color. Some rustic and earthy aromas along with red and blue fruit. Nicely balanced and even a touch feminine in its' flavor profile and textures. Medium body. Red Cherry and blueberry. Great with flavorful grilled meats and vegetables. A very good food wine. Would buy this good value wine again.

Color: Deep purple ruby. Nose: Really nice, mellow cherry & black fruit. Hint of vanilla and a teeny tiny whiff of tar. Not candy at all. Real wine. On the palate: Medium to full bodied, plush, smooth and mouthfilling. Lovely red and black fruit. The midpalate is black pepper, bitter chocolate and tobacco. The finish has mild soft tannins, balancing acidity and rich complexity. Latent plumss and licorice. Really well made wine. Easily worth $35 a bottle, a bargain at the $15-20 price some can find.

This wine has a very nice nose for an Argentinian Malbec. More subtle, subdued, and none of the artificial candy that can plague Malbec. I get some nice soft oak and a little vanilla along with that, lots of black cherry juice, and even some mulberry. The mouthfeel is very soft and supple - just a stripe of tannins. Meaty flavors and plum lead to a spicy pepper finish. Very good, easy drinking, bold yet supple and great structure. Ready to drink now (as of 2010)

DO NOT pop and pour this wine. At first opening it tasted awful - like sour cranberry Kool-aid and Everclear. Instead of pouring down the sink, I gave it a chance, put the cork back and set it aside. By the next night it was a completely different wine. Nice aroma, full fruit flavor and decent finish. Even good the third night.

Though not true 'wet cardboard/newspaper/dog' scents of a true corked wine, my bottle had notes of compost & tobacco that only one other user noted here and none of the fruit notes typical of malbec. This was not at all pleasant to drink. I hope everyone else's bottle was better.

Again, a good effort; dark red with wet leather aroma, however, quite subdued. Mid-palate is tart with a nice transition to a ripe dark fruit and tannic finish. This is a fine wine at approx 15 bones, stop the whining and start wining.

Cheap, hollow, sagging, way below average Malbec. The color is deceptive on this- looks swell, but doesn't taste like it. It's not bad, but not worth more than $2.99. Day 2- I was overly negative on this. Better today. 82-83 pts. Not worth more than 7.99.

A good tasty party wine. A nice nose of dark fruits with a touch of vanilla. A touch of sweetness on the taste, smooth but not overly complex. A good choice for a party wine.

One dimensional and unremarkable. Agree with prior notes on the fruitiness of this wine with a medium finish. Prefer the Catena or Flichmann Malbecs. For $10 as part of the WL 3 pack it was ok Value but would not buy it on it's own. Overhyped.

Quite dark in color, with purple rims. On the nose, initial impression to be honest is of Welch's grape juice, but cherry and vanilla are also evident. Fairly sweet nose. On the palate, bright cherry, but with some substance behind it. Some broody smokiness to it, but not flooded with oak treatment. The wine is not overwhelmingly complex. Very serviceable, but not a spectacular wine. I had this with pizza and it was very nice. For $10 with the WL 3-pack, this was a fine purchase. I would not say this wine has a lot of time left in it.
Edit: I see less complexity now than I did five months ago. This may be partially due to questionable storage. This wine was outside my wine refrigerator for a substantial period.

Good wine...dark wild berries & a bit of toastiness throughout that shows as a bit of spice on the back end. Not a big heavy Malbec, but a pretty well-balanced one in a medium-bodied style. Ample acid helps give lift, would probably be great at a cookout.

Wine was very closed upon pop, but after pour through Vinturri into decanter the nose nose had prominent fruit of cherry and plum. Sour cherry continues on to the palate with a little pepper spice added in. At $8.50 as part of the Cindy 3-pack it is a good value but would not re-buy at the full $20 price.

Pretty basic red wine. Nose was fairly uninteresting with aromas of raisins and dried fruit. On the mouth it was well rounded with decent structure and a nice balance of acids and tannins. Not as oaky as other malbecs but you could still taste it. Overall simple and somewhat forgettable. Not a bad everyday wine for the price.

Drunk over 2 nights. On opening there was a lot of green flavours of bell pepper and asparagus with plum showing through followed by a muscular angular tannic finish. On the second night after leaving to air all night, the green flavours have mostly dissipated and the plum fruit showed through a little more. The rough finish also had softened somewhat. The wine is pretty singular and straight forward with no major flaws but it seems missing the fruit and additional dimensions to be interesting.

Think I went too high on this last time. Light, basic plum, which seem a bit faded. Extensive decanting and aeration didn't do much to open this up. Tastey enough, but ordinary and forgettable.

Pleasantly surprised. Nice straight forward, but not complex Malbec. Enjoyed more than I thought I should based on reviews. Very very drinkable now, and a good QPR especially with a Cindy pack.

Twice through the Vintui and this was quaff-able, but utterly ordinary. Just a bit of fruit (and a lot of alcohol) on the nose, reasonably smooth over the palate, and with moderate tannins, but it left a funky aftertaste that suggested a less-than-careful harvest. Maybe it's that it came as the third leg in a "Three Pack" from Cinderella Wine, but I was struck by the feeling that this was a wine that I NEVER would have purchased otherwise. One of my favorite Malbecs, Catena Zapata (at $15/btl), offers a dramatically better QPR.

Better than before. Paired with Famous Dave's rib tips. Was fruity enough to complement the ribs somewhat well. Not one of those transcendent pairings, but very serviceable. Others seem to be enjoying this... possibly just not for certain palates. See my previous note for specifics.

Dark cranberry red. Nose of raspberry, blueberry, and a hint of leather. On the palate, more blueberries, blackberries, and slightly tart dark cherries, then cedar box, well integrated drying tannins, and a medium finish. Enjoyable and a good value at the sale price.

Nothing special. A little one dimensional fruit and a herbal finish that had an almost chemical component. It did smooth out after 3 hrs but still nothing I would repurchase. Not my style but I haven't had many Malbecs.

Dumb nose opens reluctantly to show some herbaceousness. Mostly characterless palate with vague completely undelineated fruit and dry wood tones. A Vaynerchuk hard sell but not one of his best.

Lots of sour cherries. Pruney flavors on day one gave way to sweeter fruit on day two. Dusty tannins are well integrated and sweet giving chocolate on the finish. Not terribly complex but a nice, full bodied Malbec with greater presence than most I've had in the sub-$20 category.

Had the 1050 malbec with beef fajitas - liked it and the pairing worked very well. It had nice fruit and balance although the tannins were still somewhat prominent. I am not a big malbec drinker, and I certainly appreciated that it was not the jammy, overly extracted malbec that absolutely murders your palate, which you often find with Arg malbec. I have to wonder if this was 100% malbec - was atypical of Arg malbec from my experience. Re tannins, I'd give this wine another year or two to see if it rounds out. I certainly would buy this again at the $10-$15 range - kills most malbec out there at that price point.

Very nice example of Argentinean Malbec. It has the full fruit and richness that you'd expect, but it's a bit more restrained and refined. Perhaps a touch of old-world style? A little dusty on the palate as well. Overall a good, solid wine.

This wine is surprisingly fruity for a Malbec. On the nose it's loaded with ripe plum and other dark fruit but not too many other flavors come through. In the mouth it has sour cherries and almost a starfruit like citrus bite. Tannins are pretty soft and easy to tolerate for most new wine drinkers. Finishes a bit short but pretty smooth for a wine in this price range.
I think this wine is a bargain if you can find it under $20.
Remember you don't drink the label.

Opened on 4/5; finished on 4/6. Overall very nice. Distinctive nose, effuses ripe fruit, with some wood. Medium bodied, very silky mid- and back-palate. Pretty much sipped this without accompaniment; it was balanced and a great expression of a malbec.

Purplish red in the glass. Nose of really nice dark red fruit, but not much else. On the palate, this is pretty smooth and fruit-forward. Tannin is pretty mellow, not a whole lot to the finish. Nice fruit here but no complexity. Pleasant to drink here but not a whole lot going on.

This is a really pleasant bottle of wine. Fresh flavors, medium bodied. Won't change your world but certainly nice enough. And if I pro-rate out the price from the Cinderella Wine 3 pak at under $10, great qpr. At its regular price of about $20, ok but not a great deal. I think similar, pleasant fruit driven Malbecs from Argentina can be had for a few dollars less.

Popped & poured. This is a more brooding expression of malbec; roast cherries, tobacco, and a big whiff of peppered beef jerky. It's not bad, and certainly had more complexity than I expected. But the finish is a little weak and it lacks the clarity of expression that I appreciate in good wines - the flavor profile feels like everything's been a tad too much charred. Would probably have been better with a hefty meat dish.

Pretty boring. Fruity (an a real way, not artificial) but soft and lacking any depth or complexity. Soft and friendly, serve it to your friends that you are trying to introduce to wine. Fairly ripe and forward like most Malbecs, with a hint of sweetness on the finish. Medium to full body, low to medium acidity, and very smooth (likely from a few years of bottle age), but lacking the depth and complexity of better Malbecs.

one of many in the night ... gotta say though I was suprised by this wine... thought I was gonna not like it ... often am very cynical about wines with a heavy push and get added to special pacs from WL at this price point... I remember little flavor detail to provide good TNs but the thing that stood out to me was the silkyness of this wine... if texture is your thing... you will really enjoy this one... glad I purchased as part of the 3 pack

Tasted blind. Medium slightly translucent purple, rosy edges. Nose of opulent blueberry and raspberry fruit, smooth leathery earthiness, hint of tobacco. Blueberry and raspberry jam on the palate, almost overdone, but saved by a smoothly earthy midpalate, grass and leather, with a nice black peppery oomph close to the end. With air, the tannins soften and show tobacco and dried cherry, adding detail to the midpalate and medium length finish. Medium bodied, medium-low acidity, new world styled. I am glad I tasted this blind; I didn't pinpoint this as Malbec, and having read mixed reviews of this wine I doubt I'd have scored it as high. Decent QPR, would have again at $20. 90.

This is just easy drinking juice. I basically got this bottle for free, so I wasn't terribly upset. But, I feel bad for those who paid 15 or 20 dollars for this wine. Typical candy land nose and overall structure of a 7 dollar drugstore red. Pretty poor effort and way overpriced.

Poured through a vinturri into a decanter to aerate for 30 minutes. Initially this had a pretty hollow midpalate and a short finish, and I was not impressed. Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations for this wine. By the end of the bottle though it had improved dramatically, very perfumed nose of red berries and spice. Lots of raspberry on the palate, almost candied flavors. All that being said, this would be more appropriately priced in the $12 range, not the $20 range...

At first, eminates that dreadful artificial/cheap wine smell, but blows off w/ extensive air. No great flavors/aromas to mention; just a solid, basic malbec with an easy-going personality. Great spring/summer sipper outdoors. Very drinkable, though hardly a value as there are plenty of malbecs out there with better structure and sense of place (Catena, Montes, Vina Cobos, etc). Good wine, but would never sell above 10USD w/o extensive promoting by its retailers. ;)

Bright strawberry and raspberry fruit. Some spice and nice texture with a hint of pepper and earthiness on the finish. Nice wine, but GV must have been long this wine, b/c this is no 90 pointer. No bother aging this either. Day 2: Smoothed out a bit more and fruit toned down to bring better balance. Still no more complexity.

About an hour of air. Bright purple appearance. Pretty tight nose--some sour cherry and a bit of leather or jerky. Initially a bit bitter, then shifts to tons of acid and the sour cherries. Light tannins and a finish of more acid and some spice. Quite light in the mouth, but pleasant.

Very nice malbec...especially around the $12-$15 price point. Lovely, expressive nose of strawberry, red plum, and cedar. Felt a little thin in the mouth but was layered with flavors of rhubarb pie, baking spices, and cracked pepper. Would score closer to 90, but the finish fades quickly and is almost too smooth - light acid and tannins.

I truly enjoyed this wine. I think a year or two laying down will help it but it's still good now. Bright, light nose but a bit of dusty leather there too with the red fruit. On the palate, there is plenty of sour cherries, a nice medium weight, and just a hint of bite from the tannins. The finish isn't long but has a hint of graphite or something at the end that was interesting. Good stuff.

A little more translucent in the glass than most malbecs. A nice mix of red/dark fruit on the nose--cherry, a little raspberry, but also some darker fruit notes. Very fruit-forward and sweet smelling. On the palate unsurprisingly fruit-forward, medium-bodied, no noticeable residual sugar. Reasonably good fruit, but wine still feels a little tight/restrained even after 2 hours in the decanter. Mouth-drying tannins on the finish make it a little overwhelming without food. My friend decanted for 4-5 hours and liked it more, but this just feels maybe too young to me right now. To each their own, but I wouldn't rebuy at 20 bucks. At 11-15 I'd give it another shot with a longer decant.

Pop-and-pour. Lighter in color than a cabernet, the nose on this wine was very solid with cherry, cola, rubber glove, and a bit of vanilla. Quite different on the palate. Although the cherry still came through, there were definite tar and black tea components, as well. This was a much heavier wine in the mouth than on the nose. The finish was pretty bitter with strong tannins and considerable alcohol, but not tremendously long. It was very drying, and needs food for that reason. This was a medium bodied wine, but the flavor profile goes with heavier fare. Hard to tell if this needs age. The finish might smooth out, but it also might go a little hollow. Maybe best with burgers, at $20, it's a little tough to have as an everyday drinker. I'm on the fence about a re-buy. I would be happier if the price point were lower.

1/2 hour decant. Recommended by GV so I gave it a shot at 20 bones. Nose gave off slight earth, red fruit and smokiness. Not really as aromatic as other Malbecs I have had. On the palate this was medium to full bodied, silky, mouth coating of red fruits and a really nice finish. Mid palate was a bit hollow but this was quite simply a delicious wine. Looking to buy some more.

Decent QPR, would have again at $20. 90.
