Upon opening, seemed to be well past prime. However, after an hour or so opened up nicely. Moreover, left half a bottle corked on the counter, and three days later it was even better.

Very nice bottle. Balanced, smooth, well-integrated. Meaningfully better than the bottle I had two years ago. I guess this could get better, but it seems to be in an excellent place right now. Needed to breathe just a little (30 min) or so. I did not see a need to decant.

This wine took at least 1 hour to open, and I suspect it will be better on Day 2 (and in a few more years). Very closed and excessively dry upon opening. After a while some interesting flavors (a blend of Italian and Bordeaux -- at least sort of) began to emerge. Regardless, I will not touch another of these for at least 2 or more years. Wine Advocate gave this a 90, and I assume this was based on potential.
