The friend who brought this has been on a Redigaffi tear recently. This is third Redigaffi this year. I didn’t really enjoy this as much as the 2000. This had an oaky signature that really distracted for me on the palate. But overall an enjoyable wine unfortunately the structure deteriorated at the end of the evening just like it happened with the 2002.

Some Italians with pizza and steak: Very impressive on first pour, showed great balance despite being rather modern in nature. Thought this was a Bordeaux blend supertuscan from the early 2000s, very vibrant and plush dark red fruit. Preferred this over the 2000 that I tried earlier this year which was too high-octane for me. Unfortunately lost all structure and became an alcoholic mess after a couple of hours.

1999 TUA RITA REDIGAFFI TOSCANA- one of my favourite wines in any vintage, this pleased as expected; the colour was a deceiving youthful dark red; the nose gave dark fruit with a hit of talc in the background; on the palate, it gave generous amounts of cranberry, red cherry, black raspberry and black currant; this got bigger and bigger over a small amount of time in the glass; it was full bodied and had an extended finish; great now and even better in 10+ years.

Needed about an hour after decant to open up. Lush, intense, fine tannins and black fruit. Well-made wine. Enjoyed this.
