  Did not expect much after the first of these two bottles was totally brown, but this was completely brilliant. In remarkably fresh condition, all appropriate age and maturity with no undue oxidization whatsoever. Deep and rich yellow fruit with a developed nutty and creamy character. A certain crystalline cheese note in the background that was sort of interesting. Total surprise and a real pleasure to drink.

  Not too much life left here. Gold colour, actually seemed to lighten up over an hour or so. Darker spices, saffron. Probably the right amount of oxidization, probably a little past its prime. Some redeeming detail, maybe a flicker of mint left. Dense and rich and oily. Fine while eating King Crab three-ways.

  Not having had a bottle from my formerly favourite Côte de Beaune domaine for quite some time, I was really looking forward to this! It’s medium intense, bright golden yellow at the core while there is distinct clearing towards the rim. Medium intense on the nose at first, the wine offers up fresh citrus fruits against a somewhat dirty and rustic background of manure and stable. This must have been reduction, because with a couple of minutes of oxygen, it makes room for notes of white flowers, some lifted menthol and an impression of pebbly minerals. A medium-plus body is soon paired with medium-plus acidity and ditto intense notes of lemon sherbet and cashew nuts, while aforementioned pebbles are quite present here as well. Texturally, the wine is pleasant and while it does well to avoid any heaviness, it is somewhat lacking in precision and line on the 20-25 second finish… compared to the Raveneaux anyway. Notwithstanding all that, 91 points are warranted and drink this wine now or over the next 2-3 years......From WB TN Mike de Lange.

  What an interesting evolution. I split a case of this about 7 years ago and haven't tried a bottle in at least three. My recollection of the few I had tried, however distantly, was that the wine was weird, maybe slightly corked, with sulfur-like overtones or maybe oxidized to boot, the lot of them. So there seemed little risk of opening one at random on a Tuesday night since it was easily discarded and probably for the best unless it improved over past performances. Greeted by a gleaming gold color. Nose is all petrol and minerals with a backdraft of sweet corn, not oxidized at all. Maybe I just couldn't sort it out when it (and I) was younger. Medium bodied, it has this searing mineral quality above all with a slightly unctuous mouthfeel. Oddly, it doesn't say 1er Cru anywhere on the label but I believe Chassagne Montrachet Boudriotte, Boudriottes, and Clos de La Boudriottes are all the same thing and all 1er. Intriguing, vaguely haunting and very much in need of consumption in the near future!
