Classic DRC green stem and rose nose. Beautifully balanced cool Pinot fruit and a hint of underbrush on the medium to long finish of concentrated morelo cherry. Not powerful just Zen-like in its balanced palate of red cherry, pomegranate, and black tea. This does not have as much of the roasted Asian spice box notes I have gotten with La Tache and Richebourg nor the chocolate notes with Grand Echezeaux but is superb in its own approachable way. 97 palate 95 nose 96 overall.

Immediately immensely pleasurable. Quite dark coloured visually. Wafting of roses and dark chocolate, it's a little fruit bomb in the mid palate and while it couldn't keep up in complexity with the other 08s (GE, RSV and Tache) it had that immediate pleasure going for it while you just noted that the other will repay years in bottle more. If you have this there is no crime to enjoy it today and in fact I would probably drink it now-2035.

Magnificent opening, the nose with dark and rich fruit, the attack has vibrancy and loads of fruit but the acidity stays in check. Marvelous transparency and breed. With some time in the glass it shuts down, and one sees some fraying at the edges. Still a pleasing wine.

Starts out spritzy (et tu, DRC?) and we weren't equipped to do the Mollydooker shake at the restaurant so just gave it a lot of aggressive swirling to chase out the gas. Maybe 15 minutes later it's in the zone. Terrifically dense fruit especially for the vintage where many others are losing freshness but this still has loads of richness, grip, and gloss in its dark blue fruit tones. Serious gravitas here. The muscular tannins and the stemmy spine keep everything packed in quite densely; you can feel an immense amount of torque. It still needs a good amount of time before it pops but that didn't stop the flavors and aromas from getting nice and expressive with some airtime, the green stem segueing to Vosne cinnamon and spice.
