100% Norello Mascalese from Etna up north; Nice nose, old strawberry, cherry black lava, licorice, med tannins, good acidity, balanced, med. finish. Decent. At winery with Nicola

First sip out of the bottle was very sour. Do decant.
After a few hours: On the nose dried strawberries and sweet cherries, something floral like lilac and jasmin, violet. Wet stones, close to petrichor. Interesting. On the palate rather full bodied, the acidity is more balanced after some air. Dark fruits; black cherries, blackberries, forest fruit. Nice tanninstructure that leaves your mouth dry. Perfect match with Pasta Norma.

Much more full bodied than Etna wines from for example Tenuta Delle Terre Nere or Tenuta Fessina; also deeper in color. Nose is full of maraschino cherries and sweet Christmas spices. Quite soft and a little sour&sweet sauce on the palate for Nerello Mascalese. But tell tale high acids with a bit of orange rind freshness and bitter in it. Medium+ body. very decent for what it is and for what it costs but if anything perhaps lacking a bit in complexity.

Fresh with familiar Nero Mascalese notes. I would love to have tried this blind against other Etna reds, as on its own (particularly on day 1) I struggled to differentiate it from other quality Etna reds, in my admittedly limited experience.
This evolved and was enjoyable on days 1,2 and 3. On day 3 in particular it had a very pleasing cherry pastille note that was enjoyable to sip and savor on its own after dinner.
