15 minute decant. Medium garnet- with a wide pale garnet rim. Medium+ acidity, high tannins. Piercing blackberry, black plum sauvage, earth, coffee, wood spice, and some minerality. Long mouth coating tannic finish. Still youthful. Still shy of entering drinking window -so if you plan to enjoy this full bodied 2005- make sure to give it air. Edited to plum rather than currant.

Very different from the same domaine's Grèves a couple weeks prior. That wine was very red-fruited and easy going. This is all dark fruit, with some wood tannins that were somewhat unpleasant. Much prefer the Grèves.

Deep ruby. Resiny wood and ripe black cherry nose. Medium to full bodied. Obvious woody base with ground coffee. Strong material though with highly extracted dark red fruit and civilized tannins. Clearly modern bent with the oaky, cocoa tones. It could use more complexity but has time in hand if you care to wait and see what becomes of it. My sense would be that it has limited potential to gain further nuance, but who knows?

Delish and complex bugundy with plenty of substantial fruit stuffing but the beginnings of mushroomy-earth secondaries. underated on CT imho. now - 2025.

(des Croix Beaune Bressandes) Medium-plus colour, also with plenty of purple. Deeper aromatics and initially a little reductive - yet only 10 minutes in the glass unlocks round yet full, ripe, dark cherry and higher tones - the aromas cling to the glass. Versus the Montille this is much rounder and fuller in the mouth - it also seems longer, but a fair amount of that flavour is barrel derived. Only about 30 minutes are required for this to fully unwind, yet despite its dimensions, this is a little less complex than the Montille today. Still a super wine.

Excellent if slightly more modern than I expected. Dark cherries, earth, but lacking the finesse and ethereality of the better burgundies.
