Held onto this one for many years and glad I did. Characteristically strong and true to the varietal. Complex without being overbearing, medium plus in body, dry and long finish.

Oak is dominant, but I can sense some nice things brewing underneath the oak. My gut tells me that this will always be oak-dominated, and by the time the oak fades, everything else will have already faded, but I've been wrong before. I looked up this wine, and 17 months in French oak, 70% new. That's exactly how it tastes. I see they dialed it back a little in 2009 which was probably a good thing. I have one more bottle and I'll open that in hopefully 3 years, just because I want to see what happens.

PnP. Brought to a cabin in Duluth. Med dark crimson in color. Blueberries, leather, and some meat on the nose. Great with food.
Enjoyed in a Riedel Vinum Syrah glass at 60F.

Drank months ago, I just remember it had blossomed into a tasty domestic syrah. Ready to drink and thoroughly enjoyable.
