Allowed to breathe in glass 1 hour before tasting. Clear deep dark inky blood-garnet color, lightening at the rim. Initial savory note of soy sauce blew off after an hour to reveal a wonderful bouquet of boysenberry pie, dusty black cherries, creme de cassis, spicy oak, anise, lavender, mocha, vanilla. Similar on the palate, full body, rich, balanced, a bit of alcoholic heat, mouth-coating tannins, lingering finish. As the company's motto says, or used to say, they don't make wimpy wines. With proper storage, these wines age surprisingly well and are a great value. Improved with extended aeration, and showed best on day three under vacuum stopper in refrigerator.

Very astringent. Showing strong signs of oxidation. Past its drinkability.
