Colour and nose of very much where they should be, medium garnet with roses, tar and herbal notes. Palate still show tannins, very fine, and very good balance and length. Drinking well now but will go several years more.

This was just absolutely superb! Showing berry and plum fruit, some earthiness, pencil lead mineral note, slight anise. The mouthfeel is luscious with a long finish. We purchased this at the property in October, 2012. I wish that we had bought more.

Garnet color. Very perfumed nose. Medium body. Upon first taste the wine was very sharp and tannic having fruit that was far too restrained. But, after about an hour from decanting a roundness began to emerge and the fruit came much more to the fore. Flavors of dark cherry, strawberry, licorice, clove, and cinnamon were prominent. It still had a slight astringency to the finish. Not as elegant and balanced as other bottles. Maybe bottle variation or it has close down a bit from my last tasting of a year ago?? This is a producer that I typically very much enjoy. Not bad, but not up to par.

Deep granite color. Fragrant floral nose. Firm, but not overpowering tannins with a solid streak of acidity. Very balanced fruit. Flavors of dark cherry, blackberry, tar, mushrooms, and cinnamon. Elegant. Drinking well now, but has another 10 years ahead of it. Lovely.

Really behind getting notes in. This was the second red wine of the night and third overall at the January Triple Date. We had a lot of foods with rich sauces or bright sauces, but we also needed something with lighter touch as we had non meat dishes as well. The restaurant decanted this, although the waiting time was hardly enough to get any oxygen into it beyond the act of pouring and swirling. But no matter, this was knock out good. As good as I remembered from a visit to the maker in May 2014. There's nothing here that isn't just what you expect from great traditional Barbaresco. Pure aromas of roses and tar, starting to morph into secondaries of mushroom, dried leaves, and all the savory notes that go with those. Silken texture. Not sure why this was downgraded or in any way disappointing. Distribution in the US is still quite limited, and the price is higher than it should be. In Europe, they also bottle a Nebbiolo from younger vines for earlier drinking--although it's quite age-worthy, as a vertical poured for us showed. That would be a spectacular bargain to bring back.
