PNP. Very dark garnet. Rich cherry pomegranate with a touch of juniper. Big red fruit flavors with dusty tannins. Black cherry fruit, a little cherry fruit leather, anise and a little astringency on finish. Overall big, rustic with unresolved tannins but very good. Much bigger and surprisingly more youthful than yesterday's 2004. Should keep and perhaps improve for 3-5 years

Day 1: The nose held great promise, with beguiling Burgundian notes of mushroom, dark fruit and herbs. So did the initial mouthfeel, where the wine has a nice weight and textural balance. Unfortunately, my taste buds felt let down. This is a backward wine with wince-worthy tannins, especially on the finish. The wine stayed harsh even after a 3-hour decant; I think I opened the wine at least 5-10 years before it's time. The rating reflects my experience with the wine today. No idea if the tannins will calm down, but if they do, it could be a delicious traditional Burgundy.

Day 2: the wine is drinking nicely still, fresh dark cherry, clean and sweet, plenty of aroma to intoxicate. Day 3 it is faded some, the floral and brighter elements dissipated.

Dried cherry and earth on the palate. Overall a decent wine, well made but boring.

PNP. Still very fresh and has a nice tannin grip. Should be alright for the next 3-5 years.
