This showed beautifully tonight: rich, dark, complex, fairly long finish. It (surprisingly) wasn't overly tannic. It's a hair hot (14.5%), but still presents as well-balanced. It went well with our meat paella. It showed as youthful and full of beautiful fruit. This is a very nice wine. 92-93.

Dense opaque - youthful fresh blacknblueberry and cinnamon spice aromas and flavors - iron and pruney elements join in at close - furry powdery dry tannins in abundance - will wait a handful of years to check on this one again hoping the tannins relax a bit and the fresh fruit remains bouyed to some degree.

Decanted 6hrs. I’ll be honest, the first glass was a tad rough, the wines quality was absolute, and without question. Being a 15, it had a really attractive core of dark blackberries with a floral halo floating around. But those tannins, deadly serious and completely dominating the proceedings. Yet the 2nd glass was much, much better, I think my taste buds had adapted to the tannic punch and all seemed in alignment resulting in a very joyful drink. I really liked this. If I could go back in a time machine I would have told 30 year old Dale to reduce CdP Purchases by 50% and start buying more Bandol reds. I would to taste a mature example someday.

This is a fine wine. However, it is much too early to drink. Wait until the wine is ten years old and you will be richly rewarded. Tannins are a bit overwhelming and the aromas need time to develop tertiary notes. I was very pleasantly surprised to have this as a by the glass selection at the Wine Thief.

Tasting freshly opened. Nose of tar, black currant, and ash tray. Massive tannic coating with a full body and dry cherry-like middle.
