93-94. Same comments as last time but I guess my wife was right… Compared to Masi Costasera riserva 2011 drank the next day , it was much better…. to my surprise.

20-year-old vines. Clay and limestone soil. 35% Corvina, 35% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, 10% Rossignola, Oseleta, Negrara, Dindarella. The 180 describes the degree exposure between southwest and south east. Grapes are dried 4 months. Aged in Slavonian oak barrel for about 30 months. The nose shows rich dark cherry fruit, some creamy chocolate notes, sweet spices, savory herbs and some heat from the alcohol if you take a big whiff. The palate shows the same richness of fruit, but is round and lighter in feel compared to most of my experiences with Amarone. Soft tannins at this stage. Medium-bodied. Plus acidity. There’s some heat on the back-end that you definitely feel on the throat while less so on the palate with food, but it vergres on still being licor like with the alcohol-heat, but not licor like in terms of the sweetness and fruit. 16.5% alcohol. I like the relatively elegant style of this Amarone, but it’s still warmer than I prefer, which is what I don’t like about a lot of Amarones. Maybe that goes away with time. 90+
