  • Yum! We had this paired with dinner at Cervejaria Liberdade in Lisbon and it was decanted. It’s a field blend from vines that average 70 years old, planted on Douro terraces - we literally cruised right past them! Dark cherries and raspberries, baking spice, and restrained oak on the palate, with soft tannins. It’s young and I think it could cellar for a decade with no problem. Aged for about 18 months in French (85%) and American (15%) oak barrels.

  • Belle robe d'un vin jeune. Un nez concentré de fruits rouges et noirs. Une bouche aux tanins soyeux et racoleurs. J'aime

  • Made with a field bend of old vineyards averaging 70 years old. Fermented in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 18 months in French (85%) and American (15%) oak barrels. Bottled unfiltered in January 2022. 14,5% alcohol, residual sugar 1,8 g/l, acidity 5,2 g/l and pH 3,66. Tasted from a magnum.

Dense, youthful and quite opaque blackish-red color. The nose feels youthful and fruit-forward with lush aromas of blackcurrants and dark forest fruits, some toasty notes of mocha oak and dark chocolate, a little bit of savory wood spice, light blueberry tones and a hint of plum juice. The wine feels dense, chewy and quite youthful on the palate with a full body and intense flavors of ripe blackcurrants and boysenberries, some woody notes of savory oak spice, a little bit of sweet black cherry, light toasty notes of mocha oak and charcoal, a hint of dark plummy fruit and a touch of vanilla. The structure relies a bit more on the firm, assertive and grippy tannins than on the moderately high acidity. The finish is dense, dry and grippy with a long, dark-toned aftertaste of ripe blackcurrants, some woody notes of savory oak, a little bit of toasty oak spice, light plummy tones, a hint of extracted bitterness and a touch of blueberries.

A youthful, quite stern and rather tightly-knit Douro red that is still a bit on the toasty and oaky side of things. It feels like the wine is built to age, which is good, since based on the rather prominent oak influence, it is going to take quite a bit of time before all that wood is going to be integrated with the fruit. At the moment the wine feels a bit too young and oaky for my taste, but I guess after another 10-15 years things might look different. Maybe a bit on the pricey side for the quality at approx. 90€ for a magnum.

  • Tasted after a 75 minute decant.
Dark ruby in colour with somewhat restrained aromas of sweet black fruit, earthy, herbal with a hint of chocolate & oak. On the palate, medium bodied slightly savoury, black fruit, blackberry/boysenberry/cassis, dusty earth, well integrated oak, medium acidity, high soft tannins with a long finish to pepper & bitter chocolate. Tasty wine but not as good as the 2018.

  • 70 (seventy!!!) year old vines. Blend of 25 to 30 different ingeneous grapes. 18 months in French and American oak. Low yield, very concentrated. Almost impenetrable purplish dark color. Very spicy aroma's. Intens and deep palate with firm tannins. Will be even better in a couple of years, but already drinks well now. 92 points now
