popped and poured. this is better than a $15 bottle. it's amazing what patience and time can do to an inexpensive bottle of wine (when stored right). nose: the fruit has taken a seat in the back of the bus. big olive and bell pepper. black fruit. milk chocolate. tobacco. palate: olive, tobacco, plum, black berry, mocha on the finish. soft tannins, good structure, well balanced. nice acidity. long finish.

Knights Valley Cab has always been a favorite of mine, and I think we bought this thinking it would be similar. Back when purchased these bottles, this wine was very tanic, so much it hid any hint of fruit. So, we put the others in storage for a couple of years. This is now fairly dry, but very light in the fruit category, most of the Tanins are smoothed out. The remaining bottle I have will be saved for next time recipe calls for dry red wine. This stuff is good enough, but not great, and there are many others I would rather drink from my cellar.

A bit more austere than last time with tannins and acidity still showing, but also with a lot of sweet dark fruit, some leather, some cedar on the nose. Still a very nice value and a good performance. Probably still has a couple of years in it.
