Similar to my previous notes. Still full throttled and can go much longer but why wait. You could easily be fooled into thinking this is a Cab. It is that big. Super extraction and layering. The best California Merlot I have ever tasted by far.

Tannins are subsiding and the wine is smoothing out. A touch of dried raisin sweetness which could confuse you to thinking this might be an Amarone. Dark color, great extraction and still plenty of tannin to make this last several more years. Wine is in a great spot right now.

Decanted 3 hours. Still tannic but not as much as in March. A really great Merlot that has lots of extraction, balance and structure. If you're going to drink Merlot this is a great one. I still find Merlot fairly one dimensional and so it isn't a favorite of mine.

This is the best California Merlot I have ever tasted. If there is a California Merlot that's better than this please let me know because I'd like to try it.
Del Dotto is a new discovery for me and what I have tried so far is mind blowing. His Merlot has amazing extraction, in your face fruit & tannin yet amazing balance. This Merlot could go 12-15 years easily. I will not try another bottle for at least a year.
I'm not usually a Merlot fan as I find it fairly one dimensional but if you can find this give it a try. This will make every other Merlot you've tried seem inadequate. This of course can't be compared to a French Pomeral which cost way more and is blended. This wine is great.
