Certainly the best white wine on the table this evening (had it side by side with Trimbach Grand Cru Geisberg 2014 and William Fevre, 1er Montee de Tonnerre 2020). Gave it a slow ox for 3 hours in the bottle. Yellow/Golden color. Typical Smaragd notes of ripe yellow fruit. Mid weight palate copies the impression of yellow fruits, esp. pineapple. Good structure and length. Not the fine aromas and structure of the Hirtzberger Hochrain 2015 (at the same price range). Wait 3 years for the next bottle or give it enough air! Don't drink too warm to not let it get too "heavy and thick" 92-93 pts

This was pretty good, but not at the level of other wines I've had from Prager; the nose was rich and heavy, hints of botrytis and ripe orchard fruits; the palate is a bit fat for what I want from a riesling and doesn't quite have the minerality or energy. It did seem to freshen up some with air, but never really hit the highs of the '08 Achleiten.

Prager Dinner with Robert Bodenstein (Chicago, IL): This wine is clearly a sibling of the Achleiten. There's no way around that conclusion. The difference here is that the Achleiten is a bit more fruit forward, rounder, and sweeter, while the Klaus shows a bit more steely, with more of a focus on salinity and minerality. This is a little more austere, which I found made it a little more difficult to enjoy in comparison.

Like Riesling Achleiten a bit more restrained on the nose. "Depth, purity, intensity" is what I wrote down. On the palate like a super-charged version of Achleiten, darker and brighter even, the fruit is juicy and there is lots of perfectly well integrated acidity. Slightly spicy. Lots of minerality. Incredibly long and intense finish. Power and laser-like precision. A monumental wine. 97-98+

94(+?)pts. Great Riesling, but I'd rather have the Wachstum Bodenstein from Prager in 2015. Both are excellent anyway.
