  • Light to medium yellow colour.
Nose: Very Mosel Riesling like with flowery fruitiness and lots of stone and minerals.
Taste & palate: Quite lean body and again with some Mosel characteristics but with a steely, mineral core which is much more Rheingau and a crystal clear lemon and lime fruit which (despite the citrus connection) is neither Mosel, Rheingau, Pfalz nor Alsace.

With its medium to light body but steely backbone, crystal clear fruit and medium long aftertaste this wine has finesse and elegance. It's great drinking now but I'd be surprised if this wouldn't also keep and age quite well (until its 10th birthday at least).

With all the enthusiastic reviews of the Slovenian Verus wines my expectations were up well before the screw cork was off and I mjust admit that my initial reaction was disappointment rather than excitement. Because this wine is not about power or super fruitiness or anything knock-out immediate.
But what it is all about is super purity, lightness, structure, transparency and "minerally" elegance! This wine will do very well on its own (it should definitely please the non-dos crowd) but to me this first of all calls for food!
