  Slow ox 1 hour prior to tasting. Clear and bright with a garnet rim. Fully developed and complex nose with pleasant tertiary notes of cigar box, pencil shavings, leather - all backed up by a black fruit core of fresher fruit. Balanced palate with well integrated tannins and enveloped in mature fruit. Most likely reached it peak 20-10 to 2015, but still very pleasurable. Drink up! Outstanding. 95 P.

  Color still Good! Soft mouth feel, medium body, dark fruit flavors - fig and plum and some tobacco leaf. Finish was short but nice.
  27 years old - excellent!

  Glorious Bordeaux like nose. Roast espresso, loamy soil, sweet dark berries, black currants, licorice, truffle and cocoa. Baking spices. Palate is complete and harmonious with a long finish.

  Pronounced nose intensity with notes of black fruits, spices, toast, pepper. Medium acidity and medium tannin. Tannin is velvety. Long finish. Drinking well now and still going strong.

  After a few disappointments in a 1990s Italian tasting that reinforced the notion of highly variable bottle quality this was far better. Very smooth, lots of black fruit, liquorice and as described by a former Vatican officer - scent of the sacristia from the Vatican
