Vertical/Horizontal Tasting of Chevillon Nuits St. Georges Premier Crus (San Francisco): Ruby. Mix of camphor and fruit tones. Medium weight, excellent concentration. Blue fruit, soil, creosote, excellent acidity, tannins that expand and cling. Excellent length. Impressively substantial with real palate impact. Classic Nuits. I had a chance to revisit it later, and it had become even sweeter with a more caressing texture. The first outstanding wine of this tasting and probably the best of the 2013's and 2010's shown today.

Earthy and spicy aromas packed in deep fruit. Powerful and concentrated (as a Vaucrains should be), but here is also a velvety mouth feeling. Good now, but still promising.

Ruby. Some menthol and candied fruit with an urgent gamy undertone and a fair amount of oak. Medium weight, sappy, not huge or foreboding for this cru. Adolescent but quite approachable. Ripe dark cherry, a good dollop of soil, and broad tannins to finish. Probably halfway to peak drinking but balanced enough to be really enjoyable now.

Grippy, but enough red fruit for this to be approachable, some sap and undergrowth too. Very fine.
