Very nice Super Tuscan blend. Nose, definitely cherry, sort of a dark and maraschino blend, some spice comes through also. Palate was delicious, still took a little time to open up, 20 min or so in the glass, great balance, with notes of chocolate, spice and fruit. Finishes smooth with good length, giving the tongue much to savor. Drank this last bottle finally, still holding up, but getting more muted, drank over the course of 4 hours. Definitely glad I drank this last bottle!

The last day it flattened out (last glass) otherwise it held up nicely. Given the color (red going toward brown) if you have any of the 2005 vintage, drink now!!

[Note: This never had other than room temp storage.]
N: Funky, or next to nothing; some herbaceousness?
P: Definitely now madeirized, but even apart from my note of 4/11/14, one can see how this was once VERY fine stuff. [What's the old saw about a truly balanced wine never LOSING that balance?] Nonetheless, still proved a capable accompaniment to the night's lasagna.

N: Cherries on top with herbal undertones; Some spice? Either closed or weakening? Perhaps needs some air?
P: ASTOUNDINGLY flavorful entry with almost sweetish fruit; V-E-R-Y well balanced with good acidity & a long [albeit somewhat faint] finish. LM, poss M body.
A wine of **distinct** class/breeding, though I'd suspect on the decline given the lack of nose & browning along the rim.
Per the label, 14.1% alch; 35% Sangiovese, 25% C.S., 25% Merlot, 10% Freisa, 5% Cab Franc.
P.S. Lucas & Lewellen apparently have changed the NAME of this label from Mandolina to Toccata.

Worked well with roast bone-in pork roast after breathing for about 2 hours.
