  • 2009 Oakville east tasting. This was a great pair of wines.

Gallica shows a depth on the nose that sets it apart. Blackberry, raspberry sauce, smoke, and herbs in the nose. Palate is outstanding with dark fruit on entry, raspberry, and blueberries supported by outstanding acidity. Tart mid-palate just helps the wine accelerate into its detailed finish. Dark, sometimes drying tannins.

A full cabernet sauvignon that is in no way overdone. Fresh and really well made cabernet. More producers need to pay attention to what is happening here.

  • In my cellar from release, first bottle from that purchase. Still in the box in tissue...This was highly allocated at the time I bought it but have not tasted. Decanted for ~4 hours prior to drinking. Paired with braised short ribs and asparagus.

Bright purple/ruby color, no separation. Nose of dark fruits, blackberry, earth and floral notes. Fruit forward palate showing red and dark fruits, boysenberry, licorice, cassis. Secondary notes of smoke, minerals and pepper/spice. Sweet fruits through the mid palate - really nice. Full body, medium/long finish.

This is a big wine, aged nicely but still has a youthful characteristics to it. Tannins still there but smoothed. Showed really well on this evening and paired beautifully with the beef. In a great spot right now, I think the extended decant made a difference. Other tasters seem to have had mixed experience, I would be more generous with my assessment... hoping remaining bottles show as well...:)

  • Dark purple violet color with just a hint of a nose, tart black currant, blackberry and some cranberry fruit. There’s some oak, acidity and it’s tannic at this juncture. The wine visually appears youthful and bright with rich to the eye with a lively dark color. Day one, the wine was tightly wound, and after two days open I would probably categorize this one as more of a food Cabernet, but this is definitely not a pop and pour wine. In conclusion, OK but not special by any means in my opinion. 90–91+ points.

  • PnP. Drinking well on opening, improved somewhat over new 5 hours. All the basics - structure, acidity, and nice fruit. Good, however nothing that knocks my socks off ..... yet. 92

  • PDQ93+
Smooth and reserved for California Cabernet. Long finish with good Moore feel. Could use a bit more fruit
