$100+ vs 3.0: Decanted and served blind alongside a 2013 Beringer cab reserve, there was no question to me that this was the lesser wine, but apparently 4 out of 9 people preferred this??!! Uninteresting, no finish, astringent. Probably an alright red for the price paid.

This was served single blind with a 2013 Beringer PR. It was pretty easy for me to pick out this wine. I picked it out just from the nose and confirmed with the palate. No contest in my mind.....and I am usually not good in blind tastings. Nice wine and very good value/QPR. Not as high on this wine as others.
Nose showed mild fruit and some florals. Palate was slightly thin, but still had some nice fruit and smooth, rounded tannins. A consumer friendly wine with a short finish. Drink now. No score.

Liz's Annual $100 Plus Tasting (Minneapolis, MN): A major moment as this is the last Davenport wine in my collection. I moved out a ton of their wines with my reviews and wish I had some left but whatever as there is always wine left over. This got 4 votes vs. 5 for 2013 Beringer Private Reserve which I am thrilled about. Just finish the last glass and featured menthol, cherry, minerals, spice and earth. Medium finish. LOVED IT!!!!

Day 2: Day 1 was a bit tight. Day 2 blueberries, cherry, menthol, mild wood and earth. Medium plus finish. Again find me any producer this good for under $20.00 and don't say Cameron Hughes. 92 points

4/26/2021 - jmcmchi Likes this wine:
Maturing more quickly than earlier vintages.
Red and blue fruit, smooth tannins with just a little oak note
Long and balanced
