  • fresh and precise. granny smith apples, some oak and creaminess. roasted nuts from the age. good acidity and stony minerality that gives this one a lift and some life. long finish. i would consider this to be a very good to excellent quality chablis 1er cru that is better than the average. It is drinking at peak now and will last several more years.

  • Coravin 2/13/17: Golden-orange color, darker than I remember most of my past bottles; nose is aromatic with mature butterscotch, caramel, dried orange rind; palate is full bodied and creamy textured but also light and elegant throughout, some oxidative notes without being overly oxidative, superb medium-plus acidity throughout, some fading white fruit but still present; finish is medium length. This is fully mature Chablis, still wonderfully enjoyable but at peak and will only decline from here. My last bottle out of a case, and this was a wonderfully enjoyable wine at all stages of its evolution. 92-
2/20/17: Same as when first accessed with the Coravin, though maybe a tad more oxidation and caramel aromas. Drink up now; this was my last bottle.

  • Coravin 7/24/16: Medium-deep golden color; nose is aromatic with cream, rich texture, but also some lime and fresh minerality; palate is full bodied, medium-plus acid, good white fruit, clean midpalate; finish is medium and fades a bit more than expected. I've had this wine many times over the last 5 years, and this bottle may be on a slight decline, though it is still a pleasure to drink. I would drink any remaining bottles over the next year or two. 91

  • Dinner (Quince, San Francisco): Coravin 1/23/16: Medium-golden color; nose is aromatic, butterscotch, caramel, slight peach and pear; palate is full bodied, medium to medium-plus acidity, medium alcohol, slight oxidation but well balanced, fruit is fading; medium to medium-long finish. Very nice, near or maybe a half-step down from my last bottle, drinking well now. These were fabulous values on release and have aged remarkably well with only one bottle so far out of most of a case that was premoxed. 91-92
2/7/16: just like the note above. This wine is a real pleasure. 92
