New Year's Champagne Madness (Casa Gill): From Magnum. One of the, imo, 4 serious red wines of the night. Beautiful Corton: earth and hard red candied nose, and a nice mix of primary and secondary. On the palate, excellent acidity and a nice mix of leather, earth and red fruit. Still some rustic tannin on the finish, but fairly soft. Very nice.

Very nice red & dark fruit wafting from the bottle on the pull of the cork. The nose got a little darker with an hour in the decanter. Excellent tart red & dark fruit (black cherry, berry) with a touch of spice (cinnamon) the first night. The second night brought a little more spice and some iron / mineral on the finish. Not as polished as some of their other years, but still very tasty.

this wine had really taken on heft since i last tasted it. it left a Village Volnay and a NSG per cry in the dust, as it should have, smooth, rich, deep, complex with tons of fruit -- cherries, plums, spices and enough structure to go another decade.

(Maison Bertrand Ambroise Corton-Le Rognet) Medium dark garnet red color; tart red fruit, mineral, chlorine nose; tight, tart red fruit, iron, brett palate with medium acidity; medium finish (decanted for an hour or so before serving)

Wonderfully scented with warm cherry compote and cinnamon, smooth as velvet, many years still ahead for the wine.
