NobleRottersSydney - Christmas Lunch 2018 (Noum, Surry Hills, Syndey): {screwcap, 14.5%} [Stephen] Dark malty/minty wine, not too oaky. A very Australian eucalypt character on the medium-bodied palate. Medium acid and medium dusty tannins, but it’s a bit warm on the palate and has a hollow quality. Medium length dry finish, but it’s a bit simple to be totally convincing. Old-fashioned style, ready to drink.

Cassis / black currant, a touch of red currants, olive and dark chocolate. Very good palate weight and finish with some drying tannin lingering. Drinking very well now, this could safely go another 5-7 years quite easily.

{screwcap, 14.5%} Solid and blocky. Not much development; a reserved mint/euaclypt nose, not hugely intense, is followed by a low-key palate, quite dense, a little warm, and without great complexity. It really has a black olive/ current tinge to the rather bland flavours; medium-full bodied, with balanced oak. But always with that hint of mint. The whole thing just feels a bit too manufactured, too calculated, too..well, just dull, really. Maybe its shut down, I dunno; there's certainly no harm in keeping it, probably ten years, if you want to see much of interest here. But will the wait be worth it? If I'd drunk a lot of this label I might have some idea. I haven't and I don't. But I wouldn't hold my breath...

Very nice drop, even if I was 2 years late getting to it. Deep purple hews, long legs with hints of menthol and oak. Smooth finish and light tannins.
