  • Bricky orange/red kind of porty coloured
    Fairly mild nose. Still a lot of tannin on the palate and a nice structure, bit of eucalyptus as well. However going by earlier reviews it seems the primary fruit flavours etc have dropped off and this wine is past it’s prime even if still drinking quite well

  • Almost sticky on the nose this is unfortunately my last one of these. Dark fruits on the front followed by a hit of tannin in the middle and a clean long lasting finish.
    As this wine opens up it builds frontal puckering and a herbaceous bitterness at the back.
    Drops off quickly though, as you would expect from a ‘drink by 2019’.
    I wish I had more as this is a fantastic wine for $33.

  • Dark ruby red with some bricky tones at the edge. Coffee, cigar, liquorice and maybe some cedar on the nose. Lovely smooth chalky tannins are surprisingly still there after 10 years, but blend very harmoniously with the restrained but classy black fruits, mocha, plum and anise on the palate. Mocha and smoke too. Nice long finish. A little awkwrad on opening. Improved considerably with decanting and peaked at about 24 hours. Drinking about as well as I think it will for my taste, but suspect the secondary flavours will rise over the primary fruit over the next 3-5 years, especially the mocha and cedary notes that are currently more pronounced on the nose. .
