Popped and poured. Perfumed aroma of red fruit, slight barnyard. Pleasant, rich strawberry flavor. Lingering, firm finish. Rich, deep, firm backbone. Some complexity appears as it opens up. Drinking quite well right now.

Somewhat astringent at first, with a sharp acidic framework and some bitter dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, flavor profile and texture of a very good rose' from Languedoc. The next day, a totally different wine. Much smoother, but still a nice edge. Raspberry, stone fruit peel, very lively but without the sharpness and slight bitterness of the night before. This is my first bottle of this and I was very impressed the second night. An excellent red wine for the summer months, and an excellent value.

Opens with some reductive smells and flavors, along with CO2 petillance and sweet round fruit. With air time the reduction and most of the gas go away, along with the puppy fat: remaining is tart fruit, probably generous but hemmed in by tannins and acidity to the extent that it tastes lean. Happily, I like my fruit in a straitjacket, and enjoyed this a great deal. Solid value at $20.

Mostly tasty wines with Christine's shabu shabu. (Christine's): What a fun and compelling wine this is. I can’t recall ever having a Poulsard as ripe as this, which may explain why I like it so much. Lots of primary and juicy red plum and blackberry fruit with some interesting earthiness and bark. Tannic and a little chunky, it’s a wine with plenty of personality and just really hard not to like. Low A-.
