(5 Vineyards from Around the World Tasting at Vino, Hollywood, Florida) This is my first experience with the Pignolo grape and it really wowed me. This wine has a deep ruby color with a faint reddish-orange rim. It's nose is fragrant with dark berries, black cherries, tobacco, and cedar. The wine is rich and full bodied with flavors of blackberries, tart cherries, plums, tobacco, leather, herbs, and oak. There is also a heavy mineral taste, as well. It is balanced and structured with fruit, acidity, oak, and robust tannins. Excellent and ready to drink now. Best bottle of the night!

Lovely intense and quite complex nose of herbs, cedar and black forest fruit. The intensity carries through to the palate, which has excellent persistence. Lovely wine.

Got to say; I don't have a lot of experience with Pignol (only had it twice, both times by Bressan). That being said, I would definitely like to know more about it. The nose is loaded with white pepper, ripening cherries, dried herbs and star anise. Palate is medium bodied with lots of fruit that opens as the wine stretches its legs. I think this has a good amount of life left in it as well, as tannins and acid still taste youthful and vibrant.

A very unique wine of great balance and ageworthyness. The color is deep ruby. The nose is clean, medium plus in intensity, and very expressive with black fruit (blueberries), just a hint of oak and a nice floral ending. The palate is dry, with black fruit, spice, and menthol. The acidity and tannins are medium plus, hinting at great longevity and food-friendlyness. The alcohol and body are medium. The flavor intensity and length are medium plus. Drinking very well now, but is likely to retain this level of quality for another at least another three to five years.

Dark reddish purple. Nose: plum
Pepper, pepper, a bit of acidity still there, fading plum
