  Stones and strawberries! Light, a hint of slurp from time to time. This is laid back have fun stuff, cafe and lively conversation. Nothing heavy, no Rioja-like calm and composure. Reminds me of an Italian Valtellina. Very similar personalities. Drinking very well right now but will easily last another year without difficulty.

Lively and tart, at least med bodied, tangy with a lasting finish. Not a ton of fruit, more a sense of rose petals and cranberries perhaps. Peppery too. Old world, food friendly, and delightfully low in alcohol, even if what's there does assert itself a bit. Has some high altitude character. I like it.

  I don't know very much about this wine, probably a blend of Verdejo Negro, Carrasquín, Mencía and Albarín Negro, all local indigenous varieties. The label states its aged 8 months in barrel. Pale ruby color with a watery rim and moderate legs. Medium intensity on the nose with youthful aromas of violet, raspberry. red cherry, cloves, nutmeg and light toast. The palate is dry, medium + acidity, slightly green fine-grained tannins, medium - alcohol, light bodied, medium flavor intensity of fresh cranberry, red cherry, raspberry, tomato and earthy minerality. A bit thin and angular with some stemmy notes and medium - length on the finish. An acceptable wine made competently with tart red fruit from a cool-climate region. Slightly unbalanced with stemmy vegetal notes and high acid compared to the alcohol and fruit. Drink now, unlikely to improve. About $20 US retail.

  Nat cork. A dull garnet color, opague in glass. Nose of peppercorns, strawberry or rhubarb notes, and fresh earth. On the palate theres lots of pepper, good acidity - its fresh and lively. There is light tanning but good structure. Gives tart red fruit like cranberry. Great balance and really enjoyed.

  This possesses the purity of the 2006, the herby, savory fruit and minerality, but it's higher toned and less generous on the palate. Interesting and enjoyable but not as pleasurable tonight as the 2006 was a few months ago. .
