Community Tasting Notes (3)

  • Very nice now, baked plum and brown-toned fruit with some tertiary marks. Lots of drinking pleasure now but will keep for another 5 years.

  • PBaek and I bought this wine at the same time, from the same source. Although I have been through at least five bottles since last summer, I have not taken a single tasting note because no bottle has left me with any significant impression, positive or negative. This most recent bottle was, again, not compelling. It showed a middle aged Cotes du Rhone with nothing especially memorable. I know this producer's Chateauneuf to be impressive, especially the '01, but this '05 Cotes du Rhone, to me, is entirely forgettable.

  • Definitely a baby Mourre du Tendre CdP with dark plum, fig paste, spices, tobacco and tar. Firm tannins, more so on the second day, suggesting further cellaring is warranted. An old school Cotes du Rhone and indeed a very good one.
